Manuka Oval
The light, elegant modular steel framed canopies extend out from the central Bradman Stand to cover existing seats. They are a subtle low scale intervention, respectful of the heritage value of the existing oval.
Each canopy is supported by a central steel tower with suspended metal deck roofs lined with light coloured metal soffit cladding. The canopies are linked by polycarbonate roofs set higher to allow ventilation space and provide a stepped form. Combined windbreaks and balustrades to the rear of the canopies are glass with steel framing to maximize the visual openness of the structures.
The new perimeter fence used a standard steel modular fence raked to gently fall with the ground between entry gates. Here the existing squat turnstile gatehouse have been removed and new simple precast gate posts placed as markers at each entry.
The materials used reflect the emerging palette at Manuka Oval with expressed steel structure, metal cladding and glass balustrades and off-from concrete.
